Debbie's mission in life is to glorify God through growing in her relationship with Him, serving Him, worshipping Him, and loving as He loves. Her personal mission is to help women hope and dream and fulfill their calling in Christ. Her desire is that they may experience hope, satisfaction and fullness of life through the challenges and work God has for them. She hopes to bring God’s healing and encouragement to them and to foster growth and forward movement in their walk with Christ.
This fall her church, Irving Bible Church, offered the Listen to My Life process in the form of a women’s weekend retreat. They completed half of the process during the weekend. She put together and facilitated the follow-up and completion of the maps in small groups in the weeks that followed. She is now working on a plan for future ministry with Listen to My Life at Irving Bible Church which she will facilitate and organize. She is also a listener for Listen My Life at Leadership Network.
She attended Seattle Pacific University and the University of Texas in Austin. From there, she went on Young Life staff as a financial administrator and a volunteer working with the high school kids. Later, she mentored college age Young Life leaders and single women.
She came to know Christ through the Young Life ministry as a teen and was involved with Young Life for most of her adult life. Young Life and the churches she attended through out that time provided training in discipleship, mentoring, evangelism, counseling, fund raising, and camping. Her church involvement has ranged from working in the nurseries, helping lead Sunday school classes, serving on mission trips, leading prayer groups, and mentoring young women. In her neighborhood, she enjoys leading prayer groups and bible studies. She and her husband have done premarital counseling as well.
Debbie has been married to Wayne since 1981. He was on part time and full time staff with Young Life for about 30 years. They love to do ministry together when possible. They have three adult children, a daughter-in-law and one grandson. She loves being outdoors, whether it is a walk around her neighborhood or going to the mountains, the ocean or lakes. She loves creating things with her hands, arranging flowers, and art in many forms. She loves creating things with her hands, arranging flowers, and decorating.
